Job Description
- Direct supervision of carpentry works on board ships and workshop, including but not limited to various wooden frameworks, walls, floors, stairways and doorframes.
- Execute workshop fabrication works, on board architectural works including panelling, ceiling, doors, windows, upholstery works and furnishing works.
- Liaise with other discipline Foremen / Supervision to ensure the optimum utilization of available resources, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project.
- Routine checks on equipment, i.e. oil levels, running conditions, break downs etc.
- Assist Sr. Foremen/ Supervisors in planning activities and ensure that all the resource and manpower planning is conducted to meet project requirements.
- Ensure that the workers are properly supplied with machineries, tools, equipment and materials and everything is in proper order and state of maintenance.
- Perform inspections to ensure that the workers performance is up to the set standards.
- Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the supervisor i.e. resource shortfalls, surplus, HSE and Quality concerns.
- Provide personnel appraisal and training requirement, motivate and develop subordinates.
- Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work.
- Must be a good all-around Carpenter with knowledge and experience in marine related carpentry works.
- Ability to follow blueprints and building plans to meet the needs of clients.
- Select and use appropriate tools, equipment, materials and machines.
- Select and use appropriate measuring / testing devices.
- Knowledge of appropriate engineering principles, techniques and procedures.
Requirements:
- High School/ Secondary School.
- Industrial / vocational training, Leadership training, Presentation skills
- 6-7 years’ relevant experience in carpentry and marine interior fit out works, 1-2 yrs. as a Charge-hand Carpenter.
